Steve Berkemeier's been all over Jackson, performing in restaurants, bars, and community events.
"I've outlasted most restaurants in town," says Steve.
Steve is a lone traveler, a singer-songwriter who travels all over Jackson, and all over the state, singing covers and original material.
"Writing my own stuff, it kind of suffers for that," he says. "When you do your own stuff, there's a limited audience. But with covers, you can slip an original song or two into a set."
Steve is looking to retire from the Secretary of State soon. He wants to slow down and start writing more of his own songs again.
Former Secretary of State Candice Miller asked him to write a song about Michigan's Secretary of State office for an open house.
"They loved it. I did about 60 open houses, recorded it, and made a jingle out of it."
