Letters from Dead Rappers isn't just a hip hop collective, says Seymour Black - it's something much bigger.
"Just three individuals making a religion," he says. "I think magic exists, and music is magic."
With Dre da Prince and Self Made (AKA, Dallas Marshall), Seymour wants to create something unique - a mix of rock, rap, jazz, and more - with the Dead Rappers. They play all over southern Michigan, but mostly call Jackson home.
The group became an outlet of self-expression for all three musicians.
"I want to do what music did for me: a voice, and an escape," Dallas says. "You still have a voice, no matter your situation."
"We put our personalities in our music," Dre says. "We hope to influence people to do the same."
